Cortisol Sleep Issues

This is the stress hormone that you have and it is very cyclical in nature. First thing in the morning, it should be at its highest levels. As the day progresses, it will go down, and should be at its lowest levels by the time you go to sleep.

People that have sleep problems end up having their cortisol levels far to high before bed and they just can't get to sleep.

Here is what you can do to naturally decrease levels…

  • Eating breakfast in the morning
  • Eating low glycemic index meals
  • Eat smaller meals more often
  • Never skip a meal

It's a pretty easy system to follow. If you do this, by the time you make it to bed you should be at a very low level of cortisol and sleeping will be much easier.
