28 Hour Day

The title describes it exactly. This is the view that you should live your life by a 28-hour a day clock, rather than the 24 hours we do now. If you do the math, there is still the same amount of hours in a week, except there is only 6 days in a week.

Chart for the 28 hour day

It may be a little hard to read, but the top bars are the regular 24hr a day schedule over a week and the bottom is the 28hr a day schedule for a week. The transitions from white to black, symbolize the day and night. You'll also notice work in there as well.

Basically it all looks complicated and that would probably turn you off. I'll just explain it with simple numbers, so you can adapt to it.

  • You wake up at your regular time.
  • You get 2hrs to get ready for work
  • You work a 10hrs day
  • You get 7hrs after work for whatever you need to do
  • You get 9hrs for sleep

That adds up to 28hrs. You'll want to start this on a "regular" Monday. With the 28hr a day plan, there is only 4 workdays a week. That means you get an extra long 56-hour weekend. That could be enough to interest you.
