Alcohol and InsomniaThere are people out there that are suffering from insomnia and it is probably a cause of alcohol. These two specific things just don't mix properly - unless you pass out. It might provide a short term solution for you, but the reality is that you're going to dehydrate yourself, you'll wake up a few hours later having to urinate and than not be able to fall back to sleep.I learned this simple lesson about alcohol and sleep while I was at college. Falling asleep was easy at first, but as the effects started to wear off, I'd wake up. My mouth would be absolutely dry and I'd be craving water. Beyond that point, I wasn't going to get much of a sleep. That's the reality of the situation. That's just what happens to your body, but there is another aspect of this whole situation. Your body enters into various types of sleep through the night and it cycles. Eventually you'll end up in REM sleep which is where you get your REAL sleep. The problem is that alcohol prevents you from getting to this state and you won't get that real sleep. You might actually be asleep, but you won't get that good stuff that really rejuvenates your body. Try to cut out alcohol from your diet because it can cause insomnia. |
