Dreams and Interpretation

To put it simply, no one really knows what dreams mean or how to interpret them. There are many different psychologists that have theory, but nothing has been set in stone. I could write a massive textbook on all these techniques, but I'm going to talk about the most profound one.

Carl Jung is probably about one of the most unique psychologists of his time because he was extremely interested in his dreams. His theory was that dreams were the unconscious mind trying to communicate with the conscious mind.

The unconscious mind doesn't have language or anything along those lines, so Jung thought that the unconscious mind spoke in symbolism. This meant that if someone died in your dream, it could by symbolic of change.

There are too many symbols for me to list here, but it's a very interesting theory. Jung believed that dream interpretation was very subjective, so it is your job to figure out what things mean to you. If you're interested in learning more about Jung's theories, pick up his book "Man and His Symbols".
